Yellow Monday

Let's get rid of 'Blue' Monday.  I suggest something more positive - re-name the third Monday in January 'Yellow' Monday.  It should be a day when everyone does something positive and 'yellow'.  There is already enough doom and gloom out there without having a whole day dedicated to misery.  It's high time we had one dedicated to happiness instead.

This afternoon I have been selecting the plants and flowers I want to add to the garden and looking at potting benches and seed trays.  For my 'hot' bed of oranges and reds I'm thinking about crocosmia masoniorum and Cana 'Phasion' to give it a tropical feel.  And I think Alliums will look good in the borders. This year I want to bring more young plants on in my mini greenhouse rather than just buying adult plants and also try to grow strawberries and tomatoes.

I know it's still mid-winter and it's too dark to see my garden in the mornings, but losing myself in gardening magazines and catalogues made Spring seem just a little closer.
