I'm really bad at staying in touch. No, I mean really bad. I'm sure friends must think I've dropped off the planet it's been so long since I called them. You would think it would be ever so easy just to pick up a phone and say "hi" but somehow the weeks slip past and of course it's just quicker to send an email.
Emails are fine. I mean I love email. There's nothing better than getting an email from a friend. Finding it among the hundreds of junk messages that arrive in your inbox on an almost daily basis. But there's really nothing to beat a long phone conversation with a friend. You get a cup of tea. You put your feet up. You say what you want to say. The conversation flows. You don't edit your thoughts like you edit an email. "Now should I mention that or will it be misunderstood?"
Finding the time for a long conversation - that's the problem. No wonder we all resort to text messages and emails. Not that I do 'text' speak. I don't abbreviate or do predictive texting so it takes me so long to actually do the text that I only send one if I really have to.
So to all my friends out there that I haven't phoned in ages, hey I'm sorry I haven't done the phone thing. I've been meaning to get in touch but you know how it is...
